Editor’s note: So, I did decide to publish this, but I’d just like to mention that although I definitely think there are people without depression who say that they have it for attention, people seek attention for a reason. As a person with depression, it’s super aggravating, but we also have to keep in mind that maybe they need the attention. and if they’re legitimately self-injuring, even if it is just to get attention from it, it’s still a problem. They need attention so badly that they’re willing to physically harm themselves for it; that’s a mental health issue as much as any other reason for self-harming. —C
